Nothing especially exciting today. I did manage to make octopus soup for myself. I bought four small octopuses from the street market near campus. I also grabbed some celery and some cucumber. I cut up the cucmber and celery into small pieces, added some peanut oil, and some fresh water. I added diced onions and started the heat. Everything in a wok. Then I added the severed and separated octpopus tentacles. I still had the bodies left over, so I added them too. I have to say, the tentacles are delicious. The bodies were hit or miss. The first one was filled with some delicious stuff like crab meat, and then some digested octopus food. The second bite was this nasty stuff. It is probably healthy to eat it, but it doesn't taste fresh and good. It tastes like the black stuff in shrimp. So, next time I make octopus soup, I will cut out the digestive tract.
Not to sound to ignorant of fish preparation, I ate at a restaurant with some professors last night. We had whole squid. They were about six inches long each. They were whole. They tasted delicious. I suppose that squid and octopus need to be prepared differently. Anyways, the part of the soup with tentacles is delicious, I can just leave the body out for now.
