Day 6 in China

It's day six, and I know how to get downtown and back. I wandered around downtown for a few hours and then I called John, my chinese friend. After he left, I got adveturous. Well, actually I thought I would be adventurous and hop on a bus...see where it takes me. I guess it was good that it took me back home. I thought I might be travelling up into the mountains and then I saw the University!

I woke up this morning around 9am and got out of the hotel ASAP, after calling home to some friends and family. I took the number 52 bus downtown, and got off at the Walmart. The Walmart is lodged in the heart of dowtown Yantai. It's more like a Marshall Fields than a Walmart, but it also has all the Walmart stuff, like toiletries, food and furniture. Hmmmm. I didn't go to Walmart, instead I just wandered.

I wandered around looking for San Jiang (Three Stations), a two story computer extravaganza. Computers in Yantai aren't cheap, but they are affordable. I saw a Core 2 Duo, with 150Gs, 2Gs of RAM, and all the other good stuff as well as a 22" LCD for 6000 Yuan (Roughly $900.00). Thats still cheaper than the US. The computers here are similar but somwhat different. I liken it to the DVD player I bought: it plays all sorts of DVDs and has a USB port for Flash drives, which it can play movies from. It was the cheapest one I could find. The computers here come pretty decked out. There are not many cheesy low end computers for sale.
Here is the San Jiang Market:
