My First Class




Today I taught my first Law Course. The subject is Contemporary International Law. I wanted to inspire the students about the influence that international law can have on peoples' everyday life and on the respect every nation shows for eachother under the international law. Most of my students showed up early. They were all very respectful and attentive. They all spoke some English and despite being very shy about speaking to a foreigner for the first time in a second language, they were very impressive. In fact, I am more excited about teaching them now than I had expected. They exceeded my expectations by being willing to take risks and to address the issues and legal terms I presented.

They surprised me with their understanding of law in general, the case I presented was a very difficult case, and dealt with some of the most difficult legal issues and principles that I know of.
