The Semester is Coming to a Closing

With one and a half weeks left in the semester, I have been preparing the final exam, and final essay paper. After examinations, I will have most of July and all of August off for personal time. I have it to plan for. I was thinking about Beijing and Shanghai, but perhaps I will save those cities for later. Instead, I am thinking about Qingdao, and seeing the Olympic sailing events. The city is about 2 hours drive from Yantai, and is told to be the best city in this province, in terms of modernity and infrastructure, and economy. It would be a less expensive alternative to Beijing and Shanghai. I will be receiving a travel bonus at the end of this semester, of 1100 Yuan, so that will go towards a trip. I will also receive the pay from my professional English class, and my paycheck from the school shortly. So, that should be enough to pay some bills back in the good old USA, and to to take a small trip, and then eat, sleep, and get my chores done.

Qingdao (pronounced Chin Dow) is pictured below:

Qingdao-Yantai Railway Info

N382/N383 Qingdao(四方) 13:15 Yantai烟台 16:28 3h13m 229 Km

N381/N384 Yantai烟台 08:50 Qingdao(四方) 12:21 3h31m 229 Km

Prices for seats range from 30 RMB (Yuan) for a hard seat, to 50 RMB (Yuan) for a soft sleeper. That is about $5 USD.

I will likely spend most of the time studying and preparing for next semester, interspersed with some personal projects of mine: Oblivion Modding, SecondLife Scripting, Weblogging, discovering more of Yantai, finding some nice restaurants, and some musical pursuits. Any ideas you have for me can be sent to my email address. Please, send your ideas!
