So, I am back for the second session of CE Summer Camp. I have more hours this time! Today was the first day of camp. I taught four four hours. Tomorrow I teach for six hours. Teaching these kids is great! I am like a superstar! Everyone wants my autograph after class. I enjoy coming up with really useful rules and ideas to use with the English langauge. Jacky has his driver drive us foreign teachers back home if we want to sleep at home at night. I go home for my computer. If it weren't for my internet connection, I would stay at camp.
I have always been fascinated by latin virtuoso guitar. That's a bit off topic, but I just had to bring it up, because I am listening to some of it on youtube right now.
Jacky asked me if I would do some recordings for the Crazy English lessons. He wants to put out some accompanying mp3s for students. In exchange he is going to teac me Chinese, using the Crazy Chinese style. Yes, there is such a thing as Crazy Chinese. Jacky says many things, among them: "You are on sexy man," "you are very handsome," " you are a really cool guy." It makes me laugh sometimes. I wish some pretty girl would say these things to me. Some of the younger students say these same things, and Jacky said today that sometimes students pretend to be me, saying: "I am Brian Johnson......I........"
A girl in my class asked me today whether I know any immigration lawyers in America. Her husband works in the States off and on, and she wants to go with him when he goes. So, if any of my readers can offer some names and numbers, I would love to pass them on.
I think role playing is a good way to get my students talking and working with the language. I did some role playing with my more advanced class today. I had them play waiters in my restaurant: "Brian's Enchiladas Especialle." It was fun bossing them around and putting them through training. I had some other students pretend to be lawyers, and a decorator/designer. Role playing makes them think about what it is like to be someone other than a person learning English, and also lets them get some perspective on what the people they wiull be talking to in everyday life are saying and thinking.
