Day Seven in China

Hi Friends and Family,

Today is day seven. I am approaching the end of my first week here. Today is Sunday here in China. I woke up at around 9am and went out for lunch around noon. Litianfei, one of my top students took me to his favorite noodle restaurant. We had cucumber salad, peanuts in salt, and beef noodle stew. It was very good. Litianfei insisted on paying, even though I fought for the check as best I could. I read somewhere that it is customary to fight for the check when you eat together. Litianfei is a very nice boy. His classmates like him very much. He is quiet and respectful, and a little shy about his english. He is opening up as we get to know eachother. Sometimes I wonder whether he is shy or just busy. I think it is a little of both.
