Dinner with the Dean and the Administration

Tonight I had dinner with the Dean. He met me at the Department building and we took his car to the University Restaurant for professors. I had been there before, but I had not been to a private VIP dinner room. I was seated first, to the Dean's right, the most honored guest!! The Dean offered me two very fine liquors, which I refused in favor of the finest Chinese wine. Dinner was served on about twenty four plates. Dinner consisted of tiny octopus, frozen salmon, sliced and broiled beef, fine wine, dumplings (cucumber and seafood), oysters, shrimp, fancy egg rolls, spicy cucumber, and we even had a delicatessen of sea cucumbers and sparrow eggs in a soup. It was delicious. I was the guest of honor, so we spent the majority of the dinner talking about me and my likes and impressions. I was always served first, and everyone waited for me to eat or drink. Everyone complimented me on my chopstick skills. I wore a white dress shirt, khaki slacks, a silver tie, black shoes and belt, and a black jacket. Desert was a strawberry, a watermelon slice, and a berry with a large seed (dont know what it was, but it was tasty). I feel great, not overstuffed, but there was a lot of food. Oh we also had beijing duck with cucumbers and a pancake to wrap it with sauce.

The waitresses were dressed in traditional chinese dresses, and two of them attended the room while we ate, laughed and drank good wine.

The dean told me I could eat there any time.
